Both GAME and Gamestation have announced they will begin to sell Blu-rays to coincide with the release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
Around 300 stores will begin to sell Blu-rays with about 60 titles on release. Some of these titles include Sucker Punch, True Grit, Source Code and Fast and The Furious 5. Stores will promote the top ten titles each week in its own specific section in-store.
The desion to start selling Blu-rays is due to the PlayStation 3 ability to play the format. GAME’s Uk PR Neil Ashurst comments “At GAME we are dedicated to giving our customers everything they need for the ultimate gaming experience,”
“The PS3 console is now under £200 and for that price gamers are getting a great Blu-ray player as well as one of the best consoles out there.
“We know gamers want to make the most of their console and use all its available functions, we are therefore delighted to be offering customers the chance to buy Blu-ray and music through both retailers.”
Customers will be able to take advantage of the trade-in deals on Blu-rays as they can with games already. With PlayStation 3 consoles currently under £200 it will be interesting to see if these new products sell well, or if they effect the sales of the PlayStation.

Across every genre of entertainment there are specific titles or releases that become synonymous with failure, that in the eyes of fans and critics alike embody the worst that the genre has to offer. They become the universal butt of any joke in that medium, the yardstick against which every other poorly-received release is measured. [...]
Over recent years there has been a shift in the focus of the gaming industry towards online multiplayer as a gaming model. Indeed, the biggest sellers of this generation of titles have been primarily online competitive titles, such as Halo 4 & Call of Duty. Over this time there has developed a very distinct separation [...]
