What was once considered a gorgeous game of its time, capable of pushing even top performing PCs to the test, Cyrsis is finally heading to console. EA announced that it plans to release the single-player component of the original Crysisto Xbox 360 and PS3 as a downloadable title.
Players who got to experience Crysis back in 2007 will be dealt a treat with the re-release of this game. Crysis is receiving a face lift as part of the console release; using a newer version of the game’s engine the re-mastered game will see enhanced lighting effects and other visual goodies.
When released, Crysis not only left gamers in a visually stunned at its appearance; it also gave players a chance to roam right from the beginning. In the first level of the game, players were left in a sandbox type of environment. In the jungles of a south china islands, players could complete objectives of the level however sought fit.
“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality — and still is for many gamers even four years later,” said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli. “By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”
Being known for large open environments, anticipation is set to see how Crysis translates as a console download title. A release date is unknown as of time of publication, but the game is expected to cost 1,600 ~ 1,800 Microsoft points, approximately $20 – $25 US, which is still under what the game’s current MSRP of $30 US.
