Since stepping aboard the good ship Zero1 just over a month ago, I’ve realized it’s a boat crammed with interesting and wonderful people! You can never expect what will happen next! Why as I’m writing this, Tim and Raymond are having a game of five-finger fillet!
But I won’t linger on that for now, oh no! This post is all about the one, the only, Rachel Ellis! In the past year she’s covered such epic titles as Final Fantasy XII-2, Kingdom Hearts and eh, Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue!
She did us all proud with her skillfully written Assassin’s Creed Revelations review, which few will debate is as good as video games journalism gets. She has a deep understanding of what gaming is, and is always keen to let us know her thoughts and opinions! She’s always lively, and has a pretty darn fantastic twitter feed. She’s not afraid to be herself, and it shows in her writing.
Hate to go all History geek on y’all, but Winston Churchill once said – “ Never have so many, owed so much, to so few” Now of course, he was talking about the good job the RAF did shooting down Nazis. I’m not sure Rachael has killed many Naizs in her time (Well, not outside Call of Duty, anyways!) but its true to say that the rest of us writers owe something to her for her excellent attitude and even better writing over the past year.
So, on behalf of the rest of the team, thank you so much! We think your swell!
Now’s the time for me to let loose which masterpiece of writing I think is her best so far, and without a doubt, it must be her Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue review!
I decided on it simply as Rachael manages to make even the most hardcore of gamers think of purchasing a Hello Kitty game!

Computer games, as much as any other medium, are mysterious things. They can stir our souls, hotwire our adrenaline glands or disappoint us to our core. For every person who plays a game there is a valid and varied opinion. It’s one of the things that make the subject of a game’s relative quality a [...]
Across every genre of entertainment there are specific titles or releases that become synonymous with failure, that in the eyes of fans and critics alike embody the worst that the genre has to offer. They become the universal butt of any joke in that medium, the yardstick against which every other poorly-received release is measured. [...]
Over recent years there has been a shift in the focus of the gaming industry towards online multiplayer as a gaming model. Indeed, the biggest sellers of this generation of titles have been primarily online competitive titles, such as Halo 4 & Call of Duty. Over this time there has developed a very distinct separation [...]
