Yes that’s right, Angry Birds is set to have a weekly cartoon consisting of 52 episodes which will explore into the birds feelings and just why those birds are so angry. On top of this, it’s also been announced that an Angry Birds film is set to be made by the year 2015. Rovio animation head Nick Dorra said at a conference in Cannes: ‘Angry Birds will, in the future, be less and less about the slingshot.’

There is no denying that the game itself doesn’t have an army of fans behind it. With over 700 million downloads and Rovio now being worth an estimated £5.6 billion in just two years since the game was launched, is there any stopping Angry Birds?

Peter Vesterbacka, marketing chief of the Finnish start-up behind the world’s most downloaded game said that Rovio, sees itself as an entertainment brand, not just a games company. ‘We want to make Angry Birds a permanent part of pop culture,’ he said, comparing the brand to Nintendo’s Mario and Sanrio’s Hello Kitty. ‘We’re just getting started.’

Already having branded toys, t-shirts and books being displayed in thousands of stores internationally ready to showcase off the new Angry Birds Space items, the game of which is due out later this week, are we just seeing the beginning of how successful Angry Birds will become?
