Square Enix, Inc. has announced Quantum Conundrum will be available June 21 exclusively for Steam on PC. Developed by Airtight Games, the first-person environmental puzzle game is now available for preorder on Steam. Quantum Conundrum will also be available on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation3 and on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 this summer.
Fans who have long awaited the next puzzle game from Kim Swift, co-creator of Portal, can now preorder either the standard edition or a season pass of Quantum Conundrum through Steam. The season pass includes three exclusive Team Fortress 2 items, an exclusive downloadable Quantum Conundrum soundtrack and future downloadable puzzle packs. Both the regular game and season pass will be 10% off during the preorder period, from now until June 20.
Fans who preorder the PC version of the game will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes (no purchase necessary) to have their likeness painted by the Quantum Conundrum art staff and hung in Professor Quadwrangle’s mansion— a once-in-a-lifetime prize!
In Quantum Conundrum, players take on the role of a young kid dropped off on his uncle’s doorstep for the weekend; his uncle just so happens to be the brilliant, eccentric inventor, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle. Upon entering the Professor’s vast manor home retrofitted with crazy technology to test his latest hypotheses, players quickly realize their uncle has gone missing. Fortunately, players soon gain access to Professor Quadwrangle’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, which, at the press of a button, will shift the world around them to an entirely new dimension. In order to find him, players must use the newly found IDS Device to dynamically change the world to and from a variety of different dimensions to progress through the complicated Quadwrangle Manor. While on the journey, becoming adept at utilizing the various dimensions will help them trek from one bizarre and challenging room to the next. It might sound easy enough, but it is a tall order for a kid in a giant puzzle of a manor!
