Following our video the other day (the link can be found HERE) a few of you have got in touch asking what our plans are for the Expo this year so I decided to keep you updated so far with what to expect at Eurogamer and what we have planned. Now please remember that we are still in the early stages of planning so we can’t give specifics just yet but we will keep you updated as and when things are confirmed.
What is the Eurogamer Expo?
The Eurogamer Expo is the Uk’s biggest gaming event, it’s essentially the Uk’s equivalent of GamesCom, Tokyo Game Show and E3. It’s been growing in size and scale every year and with GamesFest not happening this year it’s likely to be even bigger this year.
Where & When is it?
It takes place on the last weekend of September each year at Earls Court in London. This year the dates fall on the 27 – 30 September.
Who will be there?
As it’s generally the last of the Gaming Expo’s it’s attended by all of the big names who want to give their products a massive push before the Holiday Season starts. It’s also used to get people excited for games that might not be out until after the new year.
What can we expect to see/play?
So far only a handful of games have been announce as playable but rest assured there will be more to come. The games that have been announced so far are: Assassin’s Creed 3, Devil May Cry, Farcry 3, Hitman: Absolution, Just Dance 4, Lost Planet 4, Resident Evil 6, Rocksmith and Tomb Raider. As you can see these are all third party games, no news yet on what Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft will be bringing but they will be there!
What else will be there?
Eurogamer isn’t just about playing games, though. There are also developer sessions, a Games Industry Fair and an Indie Games Arcade. The developer sessions are very popular, last years sessions included Bioware announcing the worldwide release date of Star Wars: The Old Republic and Naughty Dog held one showcasing Uncharted 3 with Mr Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North.
What will Z1G be doing there?
Myself and fellow writer Gareth Edwards will be attending Eurogamer as press in order to bring you as much news as possible. We’ll be there for all four days and, as we mentioned in the video, we’ll be writing, blogging, filming, and hopefully getting some interviews with the people behind the games. We also want to meet up with any Z1G readers that will be there over the four days, introduce ourselves and see what you’re looking forward to getting hands on with.
So there we are, that’s what’s going on and what our plans are. As I said at the start there are still loads of things to be announced for the Expo that we will want to get involved in. Everyone at Z1G, myself and Gareth especially, are very excited about this years event, it’s going to be brilliant few days and we hope you are all as excited as we are!
The games industry today is abuzz with talk of the next generation of gaming. With the WiiU already with us, the Playstation 4 having been announced a while ago and, by the time you read this, Microsoft being about to or having just announced the next Xbox unit, you can’t move around the gaming web [...]
Computer games, as much as any other medium, are mysterious things. They can stir our souls, hotwire our adrenaline glands or disappoint us to our core. For every person who plays a game there is a valid and varied opinion. It’s one of the things that make the subject of a game’s relative quality a [...]
Across every genre of entertainment there are specific titles or releases that become synonymous with failure, that in the eyes of fans and critics alike embody the worst that the genre has to offer. They become the universal butt of any joke in that medium, the yardstick against which every other poorly-received release is measured. [...]
Over recent years there has been a shift in the focus of the gaming industry towards online multiplayer as a gaming model. Indeed, the biggest sellers of this generation of titles have been primarily online competitive titles, such as Halo 4 & Call of Duty. Over this time there has developed a very distinct separation [...]
