One of China’s leading developers of Free-to-Play MMO’s and virtual world experiences is bringing a taste of Chinese culture to the rest of the world this month with the launch of its new MMORPG Age of Wushu and the world’s first Global Chinese server.
Age of Wushu is the latest 3D online mass-multiplayer game to be released by China based Snail Games, following the success of games such as The Chosen, Heroes of Gaia and Ministry of War.
Set during the Ming Dynasty, the peak of the Chinese Feudal Empire. Players will have the opportunity to join and learn from one of 8 ancient martial art schools from the good-natured Shaolin to the evil and mysterious Tangmen. Utilising physics-defying combat, players will battle bandits, warlords, and each other in historical cities and across a breath-taking landscapes.
Film star, Chinese martial artist and Wushu champion, Jet Li has been brought on board to participate in the detailed marketing campaign for Age of Wushu as a result of his continued endorsement and adoption of the martial art and Wushu way of life. Li, who began training in Wushu at the age of eight and was a multiple champion in China before the age of 19, has signed a two-year deal to promote the game. He will be featured in a new TV commercial and make a number of appearances at events.
Jeanette Zhou, President of Snail Games said: “This year marks a new dawn for Snail Games gamers, especially Chinese speakers worldwide. The new servers will enable gamers to play Age of Wushu in all its glory, wherever in the world they may be, without having to sacrifice gameplay and graphics.
“The launch of the new server and Age of Wushu replicates Snail Games’ company spirit as we aim to spread the Wushu spirit across the world.
“We’re delighted to also welcome Jet Li onboard with the project. His dedication to the art of Wushu is a testament to this way of life and we cannot wait to see him in action. Li has been involved in the marketing campaign for Age of Wushu which fans will be able to see from August.”
