Fallout: New Vegas – Retrospective

Following up on Fallout 3 was always going to be a tough task. The eternal question posed of any follow up to a successful title would have been in evidence: Do you change anything? The original worked right? So why change anything? But, if you don’t evolve, you’re likely to be accused of resting on your laurels and turning out a lazy sequel. The virtual catch 22 that all games developers face. Only, with Fallout: New Vegas, Bethesda’s decision was made even harder by the fact that theirs was a Fallout game.

Fallout 3 – Restrospective

The Fallout series essentially went into hiatus following the 1998 release of Fallout 2. Though there were several spin-off games in the subsequent years, such as the critically panned Fallout: Tactics and the virtually forgotten console game Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, no official sequel to the first two games was ever released by Interplay. There was a third game in development, under the codename Van Buren, but development was halted when Interplay jettisoned their PC development team in December 2003. Read more …

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Review

With fighting games making a huge comeback in recent years it seems virtually every franchise is trying something unique to draw people in. Mortal Kombat has the gore, Injustice has the DC licences and Marvel vs. Capcom has the tag system. Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite has…. an all female roster of characters from obscure Japanese manga novels and anime.

Okay, granted this might not be the most thrilling hook for all but the most hardcore of anime lovers but underneath it all is a very entertaining, if slightly barebones, game that is worth a try. Read more …
