Fallout 4 update gives console players a lot more room for Creations

May 29, 2026·3 min read
Fallout 4 just got one of its most useful console updates in years. Bethesda has raised the storage limit for Creations, which means players can install more community-made quests, weapons, armor, settlement items, and add-ons without constantly deleting older content.

The biggest boost is on Xbox Series X|S, where storage can now grow up to 100GB. Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 also get more space, though the older consoles still have more limits to work around.

Xbox Series X|S gets the biggest change

The update is for players who use Creations often. Bigger projects can take up a lot of room, and the old console limits made it hard to keep a large load order installed.

Xbox Series X|S players now have far more space than before, which makes the Commonwealth easier to customize. That should help anyone who wants a long-term save packed with extra quests, settlement items, weapons, armor, and visual changes.

There is one thing Xbox players should know before jumping back in. Installed Creations are cleared after the update, so players need to restore their saved load order or redownload their content through the Creations menu.

PlayStation players get more space too

PlayStation players also get a better setup, but the change is not as large as the Xbox Series X|S jump. PS5 now has more room for Creations, and existing installed content should stay in place after the update.

PS4 players also get a higher limit, but Bethesda warns that some storage behavior may still be awkward because of how the older console handles downloads and installed files. In simple terms, PS4 owners have more room than before, but large creations can still cause problems.

That makes this a useful update across consoles, even if the experience is not the same everywhere.

The Creations menu should be less frustrating

Bethesda also fixed several issues tied to the Creations menu. The update addresses sign-in problems, download crashes on PlayStation, and a bug that could stop players from downloading everything in their library.

PC players get a smaller fix as well. The Bunker Home Pack should no longer show a false “not enough space” message when there is enough disk space available.

These are not flashy changes, but they matter for players who spend time building a modded version of Fallout 4. More storage only helps if the menu is stable enough to manage everything.

Console modding feels less cramped now

Fallout 4 is still alive because players keep finding new ways to rebuild the Commonwealth. This update gives console players more freedom to do that, especially on newer Xbox hardware.

Console Creations still have platform rules, and some PC mods will never work the same way on Xbox or PlayStation. Still, for players who want more room without constantly cutting their load order down, this is a major quality-of-life update.
