Persona 6 leaks may have given fans their first real look at Atlus’ next big RPG
May 29, 2026·4 min read
Persona fans have been waiting so long for Persona 6 that even a blurry leak can set the whole community on fire. Now a new batch of alleged character designs has appeared online, and the claims around it are bigger than usual: the images may show the game’s lead character, a major female cast member, and a possible 2027 release window.
Atlus has not officially announced Persona 6, so this still needs to be treated as a leak. But the images have gained attention because known SEGA and Atlus insider lolilolailo has reportedly backed the main artwork while saying one AI-generated group image tied to the leak is fake.
The leaked designs point to a new lead and a major female character
The leaked artwork first spread from Chinese social platforms, with images showing a blonde male character and a girl with black-and-red hair. Early chatter claimed both could be dual protagonists, but later comments from lolilolailo suggested the blonde boy is the main protagonist, while the girl is an important side character.
That detail is because Persona fans always watch the protagonist design closely. Each modern entry has built its identity around a strong visual style, from Persona 3’s blue tone to Persona 4’s yellow and Persona 5’s red. The new leak has also fueled talk that green may be the next game’s main color, though Atlus has not confirmed that.
There is also background art in the leak, including a railway station, which has started fresh speculation that Persona 6 could be set in Yokohama. That would give the series a different city feel after Persona 5 used Tokyo so heavily.

The 2027 release claim is the part fans will watch closest
The same wave of leaks points to a 2027 release window, with some reports claiming the game may be targeting September 2027. Another rumor says Persona 6 is already “feature complete” but was internally pushed back. Atlus has not confirmed any of this.
That timing would make sense on paper. Persona 5 first launched in Japan in 2016, so the wait for the next numbered entry has already stretched across a decade. Atlus has kept the series active through remakes, spin-offs, ports, and Persona 5 follow-ups, but fans still want the next full step.
A 2027 release would also leave space for Persona 4 Revival, which has been tied to recent rating activity and could arrive before Atlus fully shifts attention to the next mainline game.
Atlus has already hinted that 2026 matters for Persona
The leak lands at an interesting time because Persona is entering its 30th anniversary year. Atlus producers have already teased “future developments” for the series in 2026, which gave fans hope that a larger reveal could be coming during the anniversary window.
That does not mean Persona 6 is guaranteed to appear at Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Games Showcase, Gamescom, or The Game Awards. It only means the timing is strong enough for fans to pay attention.
The safe read is simple: Atlus has several Persona projects in motion, and this leak may be the first real sign that the next numbered game is closer than it has felt in years.
Fans should wait for Atlus before treating it as final
The leaked art looks more believable now that a known insider has commented on it, but this is still not an official reveal. Character designs can change, internal release targets can move, and one fake AI image already being mixed into the discussion is a good reason to be careful.
For now, the useful takeaway is that Persona 6 may finally be coming into focus. The leak points to a blonde male protagonist, a major female character with black-and-red hair, possible Yokohama setting clues, and a 2027 release window, but Atlus still has to make the real announcement.
