007 First Light gets its first patch, but the bugs are not very Bond-worthy
June 2, 2026·3 min read
007 First Light has its first post-launch update, and the patch notes are almost disappointingly normal for a James Bond game. IO Interactive has fixed crashes, NPC pathing issues, dialogue problems, and a few progression bugs, which is useful for players but not exactly the kind of material that writes its own spy joke.
The 1.0.1 update is available now, only a few days after launch. It follows a strong debut for IO’s first Bond game, but the early patch shows the studio is already cleaning up some rough edges around cutscenes, missions, and character behavior.
The first fixes target crashes and story flow
The most important changes are tied to stability. IO has fixed a crash after leaving M’s office in Chapter 02, another crash during the Bond and Moneypenny cutscene after the opening credits, and an issue that could hit players during early story progress.
Those are not funny bugs, but they are the ones players need fixed first. A Bond game can survive the occasional awkward animation or strange guard moment. It has a much harder time recovering when a cutscene crash breaks the pace of a cinematic spy story.
That is because 007 First Light is built around presentation. IO is not selling this as another open-ended Hitman sandbox. It is a story-driven action game about a younger Bond finding his way into MI6, so keeping the campaign moving smoothly is the priority.

Guards should behave a little more naturally now
The patch also fixes a Chapter 06 issue where guards would immediately become hostile after Bond left the CCTV room, skipping the confrontation dialogue that was supposed to happen first. It is a small change, but it helps the mission flow better.
That kind of bug can make a stealth scene feel worse than it is. If guards jump straight to violence before the intended setup plays out, players lose the sense that they did something wrong and instead feel like the script broke.
IO also fixed NPC pathing problems involving Greenway and other characters. In some cases, Bond standing in the wrong spot could make NPCs disappear or walk through walls, which is much more Hitman chaos than Bond cool.
Some launch issues are still being tracked
The first update does not fix everything. A known-issues list from the launch window included problems such as the game not starting, HDR turning off after exit, controller input not being recognized on the start screen, and missing Collector’s Edition content for some players.
007 First Light has been well received overall, and IO has already passed a major sales milestone, but players running into technical problems still need fixes quickly.
The good news is that 1.0.1 arrived fast. The next question is how quickly IO can clear the remaining issues that affect launching the game, controls, and missing bonus content.
Bond’s launch is still off to a strong start
The patch notes are not dramatic, but that may be the best sign for the game. 007 First Light is not dealing with a disaster-level launch. It is getting the kind of early cleanup most major releases need in their first week.
IO’s new Bond adventure is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version planned for later. Players need a one-time internet connection for the Day 1 patch, but the full main campaign can be played offline after that.
